Town of Midway Government
The Town of Midway has a Council-Manager form of government and is governed by a five-member Town Council consisting of members elected at large. The Council operates under the guidance of a popularly elected Mayor. Council members are elected on a nonpartisan basis for staggered four-year terms; and the Mayor is elected on a nonpartisan basis for a four-year term. The Mayor may vote only in case of a tie among members of the Town Council. The Town Council is responsible for establishing policy, passing ordinances, adopting the annual budget, appointing committees, boards and legal counsel, as well as hiring the chief administrative office, the Town Manager. The Town Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies, ordinances and goals of the Town Council, for overseeing along with Town Staff, the day-to-day operations of the Town and ensuring citizens are delivered services.
Town Council meetings are generally held on the 1st Mondays of each month, unless otherwise listed, at 7:00 p.m. in the Midway Town Hall located at 426 Gumtree Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
